My work has developed strongly, originally I began working with actual frames containing subjects that were there but as my research went on I worked on controlling the frame and subject. My research into Flornece Henri is highly important in regards to my progression as her work is what influenced me into controlling the frame and creating images where the subject was edited. It was from there that I went on to the work of Ben Heine and his 'Pencil vs Camera' series where he created the frame and subject to create a perfectly framed image. Although my work does not use any drawings on paper being held up in front of a camera it does link to his idea of creating frame and subject.
My long exposure frames show how I created the frame and then chose my subject and put it into the frame. The frames which existed shoot shows how I chose the subject more and how I chose each frame and how to use it. My first preparatory shoot links to this final shoot as it contains pre-existing frames but the major difference being that with my second final shoot I chose the subjects. The preparatory shoots that were influenced by florence Henri link more to my first final shoot as she controlled the frame and used a mirror to control the subject but with my shoot I controlled the frame and then edited the subject in to create images that reflect her style but also progress in there own way.
My response works well in responding to the exam paper as all images focus on the frame and the priority of each image is the frame and subject within it. However I would have liked to explore more traditional framing devices including things like the rule of thirds.

Work Record Two
Contact Sheets
The first step with my editing was to place the image into photoshop and make sure that the Frame was on its own layer and not set as the background layer because for the edits to work I need no background so that the subject image can show through.

I then went on to select the first frame I wanted. For my edits to work I needed to select the inside of the frame and remove it from the image. I selected the frame using the polygonal lasso tool.
I then went on to make it a new layer via cut and then deleted it make the area completely blank so that the subject can show through it later.
I then did the same for another frame so that there was two blank frames for the subject to show through.
To start I changed the layer the frame was on so that the frame image was not on a background layer but instead on a normal layer.
I then wanted to adjust the subject image so that it fitted with the frame image more. To do this I used a curves layer and applied to the subject image only.
I then selected the area I wanted as the frame. Created a new layer from it using cut. Then deleted it making a blank area.
I then placed my subject image within the frame and made sure it was on the layer below the frame image layer.

I then went on to move the image so it fitted within the frame.
I then went on to select the area that shadows would be on the subject created by the frame image.
I first cropped the image as there was something within the foreground that was not meant to be.
I then saw a mark that was on the lens.
I then used the clone and stamp tool to create a distance between the two posters. To do this I selected a part of the background and drew across the selected area.

I then went on to select the bottom poster using the polygonal lasso tool.

I then created a new layer from the selected area

I then deleted the layer to create a blank space where the poster was.
I then did the same process for the top poster.
I then dragged the image into the photoshop document and made it go behind the frame image by adjusting the layers positions. I then moved the subject image so that it fitted well with the frame.
I chose this image because the frame I want to use is embedded within a frame and would work well in creating a clear difference.
I started by changing the frame image layer to a normal layer from the background layer.
I then crated a new layer via cut of my selection.
I then deleted the layer which made a blank space for the subject image too go.
I then chose the image I wanted as the subject.
I then dragged the image into the photoshop document and made sure that it was below the frame image in the layer order.
I then went on to move the image so that it fitted within the frame.
I then create a levels layer and made it apply only to the subject image.
I then edited the whites so that the image was partially brighter.
I then selected the area I wanted the subject image to go in. Created a new layer via cut from the selection and then deleted the layer so that there was a blank space for the subject image to go in.

My main photographer that I researched who influenced my work was Ben Heine and specifically his series entitled 'Pencil vs Camera'. The series focused on Heine's artwork blending with real places. The drawing created a perfect frame that blended with the rest of the image but still kept the focus on his target subject; the drawing.
For my series I want to take photos that contain a frame and then use editing to place a subject within that frame. This will need two shoots worth of images one focusing on subjects and the other focusing on the frames. I will then go on to edit both together within photoshop.
AO2
To start I selected the image I wanted to use as my frame. I chose this image because it contained multiple clear frames which meant that I could have the image appear in some of the frames but not all, breaking the image between frames.
I selected the frame using the polygonal lasso tool.I then went on to make it a new layer via cut and then deleted it make the area completely blank so that the subject can show through it later.
I then did the same for another frame so that there was two blank frames for the subject to show through.
After that I chose the subject image I wanted.
I then moved the image so it fitted within the second frame.
Creating a final image that uses both frames to contain the same subject.
I chose this image because I wanted to have one image link across both frames. I also thought a poster is a more interesting frame than some of the others.
To start I changed the layer the frame was on so that the frame image was not on a background layer but instead on a normal layer.
I then chose the image I wanted to have within both frames.
I chose the image because the train goes from both edges of the frame which would link the two frames together.
I then wanted to adjust the subject image so that it fitted with the frame image more. To do this I used a curves layer and applied to the subject image only.
I then went on to crop the image and remove part of the left side of the frame so the train appeared both in and out of the frame.
I chose this image because it is outdoors and has a door way that would work perfectly in creating a frame that blends with the rest of the environment.
I then selected the area I wanted as the frame. Created a new layer from it using cut. Then deleted it making a blank area.I then placed my subject image within the frame and made sure it was on the layer below the frame image layer.

I then went on to move the image so it fitted within the frame.
I then went on to select the area that shadows would be on the subject created by the frame image.
I created new layers from them
I then used a bright and contrast layer for each that was applied to just their layers. I then made them both slightly darker to compensate for the lack of shadow.
I then went on to crop the image.
For this image I want to use one of the shelves to create a frame allowing for an unusual subject.
I chose this image as there are two prominent frames so I can have the image come out of only one.
I then saw a mark that was on the lens.
I used the spot brush tool to remove it
I then went on to select the area I wanted as the frame
I then created a new layer from this selection.
Then I deleted the layer to create a blank space within the frame.
I then chose my subject image
I then dragged it into the photoshop document and made sure it was on the layer below the frame image layer.
From this I moved and rotated the image so that it was inside the frame area.
I chose this image because I like the idea of using posters as the frame. With this photo I want to add a gap between the two posters using the clone and stamp tool.

I then chose the subject image.
I then dragged the image into the photoshop document and made it go behind the frame image by adjusting the layers positions. I then moved the subject image so that it fitted well with the frame.
I then added a curves layer to only the subject+ image.
I then crated a new layer via cut of my selection.
I then deleted the layer which made a blank space for the subject image too go.I then chose the image I wanted as the subject.
I then dragged the image into the photoshop document and made sure that it was below the frame image in the layer order. I then went on to move the image so that it fitted within the frame.
I then create a levels layer and made it apply only to the subject image.
I then edited the whites so that the image was partially brighter.
I chose this image purely because it has too frames which means one can stay the same and the other can be my own subject image.
I then selected the area I wanted the subject image to go in. Created a new layer via cut from the selection and then deleted the layer so that there was a blank space for the subject image to go in.
I then chose my subject image.
I dragged it into the photoshop document and made it below the frame image via the layer order.
I then dragged the image into place where it fitted through the frame. Using transformations and rotations.
I then cropped the image so the focus was on the frames.
I chose this image because the wire breaks the perfect frame which allows for a more interesting frame.
I started by making the background layer a normal layer.
I then selected the area I wanted as the frame.
I then created a new layer via cut from the selection and deleted it making a blank area for the subject image to go in.
I then chose the image I wanted as the frame
I then put the image into the photoshop document and made sure it was below the frame image in the layer hierarchy.
I then moved the image so that it fitted within the frame.
I then added a curves adjustment layer and applied it only to the subject image layer
I chose this image because it contained a landscape frame that was rather short which I thought would be interesting to use with a portrait subject photo.
I then went on to select the area I wanted as a frame.
I made a new layer via cut from the selection.
I then deleted the layer to leave a blank space where I wanted the subject image to go,
I then chose my subject image
I then put the image into photoshop but made sure that the layer was below the frame image layer
I then moved the image so that it fitted within the frame.
I moved onto to cropping the image so that the focus was on the frame and subject image.

I believe this series works well and links well well in regards to my photographers research and the exam question. The use of real frames relates more to Ben Heine's 'Pencil vs Camera' series more than my long exposure shots. The the use of custom subjects also links to Heine's work. The exam question relates well to my series due to the fact that every image contains and focuses on a frame.
